Welcome to the summer term 6! I can't believe that this is our last term of this school year Barn Owls!
Our new topic is .....
English: In English we will be exploring some new and some traditional texts. We are going to be looking at some familiar traditional tales and thinking about the themes, characters, plots and settings they have, as well as using them to create our own fantastic stories and descriptions. We are also going to be looking at the text 'The Little Gardener' by Emily Hughes. In our new topic of 'Great Milton' we are going to be creating our own non-fiction texts all about the history, geography and sights in the village.
Maths: This term in maths, we are going to learn how to use the inverse to check our subtractions and we are going to continue building our understanding of how we can use 10s and 1s to solve calculations, including partitioning. We are going to practise our 2s, 5s and 10s before starting to work out our 3 x table too, including division number sentences. We will be going back over time and we will be looking at how to tell the time using multiples of 5 minutes. Later in the term, we will also be looking at our number bonds to 100 and recapping the skills we have learnt in ordering and identifying 3 digit numbers.
Science: In science this term, we will be continuing to focus on plants and I know that the Barn Owls are looking forward to doing some of their own planting to investigate where and how plants grow the best. We have been growing our knowledge of the different plants and trees we might be able to find in our school grounds and how plants grow.
PE: if the weather looks particularly wet and miserable on a PE day, please also send your child in with a change of clothes (including shoes) - just in case!
Homework: This terms homework will continue to be set on our Google classroom page. The Barn Owls will have; our topic homework grid for this term to choose an activity from 1-2 times a fortnight, a piece of maths homework weekly and their spellings. Any new homework will be set on a Thursday and please submit any pictures or documents with your child's homework, that you would like to share with me, on the Google classroom page by the next Wednesday. I have really enjoyed looking at all the amazing homework that has been completed this summer term so far!
I am really looking forward to the learning adventures we have planned for this term and cannot wait to see how high the Barn Owls fly in their learning.
Best wishes and many thanks,
