We are the Barn Owls!

We are in Year 2 and our class teacher is Mrs Green.  We also have Mrs Maria Dickson who works with us and Miss Belcher.

We have a lovely, light classroom with a role play area.

We do Phonics every morning and Literacy and Maths every day.  We have reading workshop every day where we rotate groups.  We read to an adult, we have “Choosing Time” in the book area, we log in to Bug Club to read online and we have grammar or handwriting exercises to do too.

We do Wake and Shake everyday.  It’s great fun and gets us ready to learn.

We have fruit as our snack and can order milk too, to have at break time.  We all can have free school meals if we choose to do so, otherwise we can bring packed lunches.  Our lunchtime is from 12.00 – 1.00pm.

In the Autumn Term, we visited Harcourt Arboretum to do a workshop on “Amazing Autumn” linked with our learning about plants in Science. We also had a Seaside Day where we did some practical learning linked with our topic on “Seaside Holidays”.

At the end of the Autumn term, Year 2 we performed in the annual Key Stage 1 Christmas Play.

Last term, we are learning about London.  We visited there in January to do a “Fire Walk” and learnt the story of the Great Fire of London. We also spotted most of the landmarks we have been learning about.

Have look in the Downloads section at our Topic Web for the Summer Term. We have already visited Pizza Express where we learned all about making pizzas and even got to produce our own, all as part of our DT curriculum this term. We have been exploring the animal habitats around our school for Science. Photos are posted below.

We have a busy, challenging and interesting time in Barn Owls.
