Summer Term
What a wonderful term with a fantastic group of Year 6 pupils.  We began with the residential trip to Norfolk with climbing, caving, stand-up paddle-boarding and canoeing.  The children were an absolute credit to the school and welcomed me as their new teacher. See the photos below!
Then came the SATs tests, which the children took in their stride, attacking them with gusto and enthusiasm.  We have not slowed down the pace with lots of quality writing and maths and rehearsals for the Tale Trail production in June. We are looking forward to our visit to the Pegasus Theatre to perform our play, in collaboration with two other primary schools on Friday 16th June. We have written it ourselves so are thrilled to be getting the opportunity to perform it!
As you will see from the Topic Web term 6 will be equally as busy!  I am very proud of the Hawk Owls and look forward to our final term fun before our journey to secondary school commences!

Oxfordshire Museum Trip – exploring our Victorian topic!

We spent a fantastic day learning how Victorians lived and worked (trying our hands at scrubbing clothes, polishing shoes, preparing a meal). We were pretty bemused by becoming Victorian pupils for the afternoon! We had our nails checked, we were taught Copperplate handwriting (it’s so tricky and left-handers were called “misfits”!) and we had to stand every time we were spoken to or wanted to speak! Those that fidgeted or slouched were given some horrible punishments! We even had to wear Victorian uniform……..suddenly our present day uniform doesn’t seem so bad! Thank you to everyone at Oxfordshire Museum for a BRILLIANT day!

Please see the photos of our production of the Wizard of Oz! We gave 2 performances for family & friends and a dress rehearsal performance to the rest of the school. Mrs Turnbull came to do our make-up! We looked amazing and loved performing. We hope everyone enjoyed it! Thank you to Mrs Goodes for directing us and keeping us encouraged and confident. I think we have even surprised ourselves with how good we were!
